Friday Facts 2010-01-08 FRIDAY FACTS BCA’s Weekly Newsletter January 8, 2010
Dear Reader:
It is the 1st week of the 2nd semester and already the students have been busy at work. The Christmas holiday has done much to refresh both teachers and students. The Psalmist states, “You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance” (Psalm 68:9 NIV). As His inheritance we look forward to that ultimate refreshing ushered in by the second return of Christ. Until that time let us take the advice of the Solomon, “A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).
Here is what is happening at BCA.
Open Forum: Our much anticipated Open Forum had to be postponed because of weather. Still, everything is prepared for your attendance on Monday, 11th January. Preceding the forum will be a spaghetti dinner hosted by the Home and School (many thanks to Tracey Hall and her leadership and enthusiasm). Also, we have designed it so that Grades 1 – 3 students will be supervised from 6:15pm to 7:00pm by our competent school staff, while parents engage in the discussion. This forum is a formal attempt to solicit the collective ideas and perspectives of our parents and eagerly look forward to it. See you there!
Honeybell Tangelos are the “Crown Jewels” of the citrus season! Also known as Minneolas. They are sweeter & juicier than navel oranges and have minimal to no seeds. The natural and tasty way to get your vitamin C to combat cold and flu season. Order Deadline: 1/18/10. Pickup: 1/31/10 2 pm.
Parent Surveys: From the over 80 mailed surveys we have received 27. We are hoping to collect well over the approximate 34% we have received so far to send to our evaluators. Please remember, the school does not view the contents of these forms, and you are never asked for your identity. At the Open Forum, additional form and envelopes will be provided. In order to meet our deadline all received documents will be mailed in bulk to our evaluators on Thursday. We look forward to having more of your written remarks by that time.
Bible Camp: We are still accepting registration for Bible Camp. Originally, we had advertised that Pastor Benjamin Orian would have been our guest speaker. However, this will no longer be the case. Instead, Erin Rosen and Andrea Jacobs of Andrews University will be with us. Nevertheless, we anticipate a spirit filled event.
Miller College: The president of Miller College, Dave Harris, had a talk with our seniors about preparing for college. Read more about this in the next issue of the Friday Facts.
Profiles of Youth: Andrew Ashdon and Cynthia Barrett have been chosen to represent Battle Creek Academy in the March edition of the Lake Union Herald. The feature, Profiles of Youth, highlights students who are exhibit spirituality, leadership, good academics, citizenship, service to the community, or other special achievements. We are proud of Andrew and Cynthia.
Supplemental Lunch Program: There is a change in the lunch schedule. There is now no Tuesday hot lunch. Also, Quesadillas will be sold on Thursdays.
