Friday Facts 2010-02-19 FRIDAY FACTS BCA’s Weekly Newsletter February 19, 2010
With this as its philosophical foundation, the school endeavors to provide its pupils with an educational program that leads to a full commitment of their social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual resources to the service of God and man, and an environment that encourages members of the school family to develop a positive personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Excerpt from BCA Mission Statement
Dear friend:
Teaching our students life skills is a very important part of education. Music is an incredible vehicle for these lessons. The self discipline it takes for a student to mature into a fine musician is mind boggling. A student must set a practice schedule, learn to identify problems and then solve them. A beginner must have patience to learning note reading, fingering each note correctly and the physical mechanics of playing the instrument. It is not so much “practice makes perfect” rather, “practice makes permanent”. Talk about a life lesson!
Our students also learn the importance of putting self aside for the betterment of the group. While each individual is important there are times when individuality has to take a back seat. “Plays well with others” takes on a whole different meaning. It is an awesome experience to watch the different bands learn to work together, be it musically or something as simple as loading an equipment trailer. Indeed, the music program makes a significant contribution to BCA’s mission in cultivating not only a talent that can be used for the service of God, but a mindset that allows a student to choose to do so.
Mission Emphasis Week Forms for Mission Emphasis Week are available at the office. BoxTopsBy the end of next week we need all box top contributions to be returned to the school. Let’s make a last push to complete this fund-raiser project for the school. Potato BagsIf you had ever compared a baked potato with a microwaved potato you will know of the difference. However, there are amazing little potato bags that can make this difference negligible. Just pop the potato in the bag before putting it into the microwave oven and near baked potato quality is the result in the fraction of the time. Of course, these can be used in other ways. For all enquiries as to how you can order you $3 potato bag please contact Phyllis Essex at 269-965-1278 ext. 1011.
