Friday Facts 2008-03-28 FRIDAY FACTS
BCA’s Weekly Newsletter
3/28/08
Dear Friends,
I hope everyone had a pleasant spring break and returned with the energy needed to finish the final 8 weeks of school. Although it is hard to believe after the weekend storm, it will be warm by graduation… I think!
The reports from the various mission service projects are outstanding. It was evident that the Lord was in control of the activities from start to finish. Once again the trips changed lives on both ends of the projects which fulfill an important mission expectation for our school. Our Seniors made a difference in Honduras. The freshman class also concluded a community work project which became a strong witness to our Battle Creek neighbors by helping with the remodeling of the former Washington Heights School which is being converted into a Girl’s and Boy’s Club of America. I feel confident that Battle Creek Academy has a good reputation locally and abroad because of the willingness of our students to serve. My thanks again to the board of directors for all the effort they invested in developing a high standard of expectation so the Lord can give an even greater blessing. I’d also like to thank all the parents, adults and staff who went on the various trips and coordinated local efforts to make it possible to do such outreach and represent Jesus to our world; Wayne Johnson, Michelle Brockie, Doug Hart, Marian Hart, Robin Barrett, Carla Nelsen, Christy Yingling, Mike Bowman, Sam Torres, Dawn Gatewood, Rick Gillett, and the master of organization, Eric Velez.
April brings us some big events on the calendar so please make a note of them. April 17 -21 band trip to Toronto, April 25 -27 Alumni weekend, April 28 Spring Constituency meeting which will feature a special recognition of Mr. Wilson and a celebration of the blessing Christian Education has been in our community. We are planning a meal and several speakers along with the usual financial report.
We have cancelled the Career Fair held every other year for high school students due to the enormous energy to takes for proper implementation. Mr. Wilson is giving us all he has and no one has the extra time to pick it up so we’ll continue to provide it in future years since the Seniors have already completed their required career class and job shadowing experiences.
We have a new website thanks to our Marketing Department. It is going to allow us to provide more online information including past and future Friday Facts so I hope you will check it out and compliment the Keough’s on their work.
We want to congratulate our sister school, Grand Rapids Adventist Academy, as they broke ground this week on the first stage of their expansion project. As you may remember BCA has been a key piece to their goal of becoming a fully certified secondary school by the 2010-2011 school year as we grant them diplomas. It is rewarding to be a part of expanding Christian education to a broader range of families.
Have a great Sabbath and enjoy worshipping as a family.
Mr. Kossick, Principal |
