Dear Friends,
Once again we had the opportunity to see the Lord’s gracious spirit at work during the band trip to Benton Harbor. Mr. Johnson began to notice brake problems developing on the school bus so he arranged for the students and sponsors to stay at a local mall while he headed to the Andrews University transportation department for assistance. They had personnel on duty who were able to quickly diagnose the problem, eventually make repairs, getting them back on the road safe but late. We appreciate so much the Lord’s intervention and traveling mercies which are often called into need with our extensive trip planning. Another blessing was the positive impressions the students made on the mall employees and visitors who noticed a difference in the behavior of our children and specifically approached our staff with compliments. Also we want to thank Stephanie and Rene Sanitago for their flexibility at the last minute which made the trip a success.
The Junior class would like to remind everyone that they will be taking flower and plant orders April 14-24 with an expected pick up date of May 9. Please support them as they provide us with a quality product each spring.
The board is searching in earnest for the right replacements for Mr. Wilson, and Mrs. Boothby who has accepted an invitation to join the Berrien Spring SDAVillage school. As most of you know she has commuted from Berrien Springs daily throughout the year as her husband is employed in that area. When the position became available they felt it would be wise to accept and none of us can blame her. She has done a fabulous job and will be missed dearly. Maybe the best compliment I can give her is that she is a maintenance-free teacher, she always goes about her duties with diligence and focus, has fit in well as a team member and understands the slight nuances that makes an educator successful.
Our band leaves on Thursday for their trip to Toronto. It will be an exciting and busy five days for the 60 participants. We invite you to pray for them to bring a blessing upon the people they come in contact with and additional prayers for safe, uneventful travel.
Mr. Knowles has been in Dallas all week at a Physical Education Convention developing his knowledge and skills as an educator. His professional development is part of the continuing improvement expected by the Carol M. White award so we look forward to his return and gleaning what he has gained.
The 3rd and 4th grade have their annual capture the flag activity Saturday night here on campus @ 8:30 p.m. This event has been going on for 10 years and is enjoyed by adults and students equally. If you happen to be in the area please be very cautious because although the students are confined to school property it is difficult to see them in the dark.
I want to thank Mrs. Ashdon and her crew for the beautiful job they did on the school floor. It looks fabulous and makes me proud of the clean condition of our building.
Have a great Sabbath!
Mr. Kossick, Principal |
