FRIDAY FACTS
BCA’s Weekly Newsletter
Final Edition
5/9/08
Dear Friends,
This is the last Friday Facts for the 2007-2008 school year and the final contribution from my desk as I prepare to take on new responsibilities. If you haven’t heard, I am moving to Georgia to work as an Assistant Superintendent of Education with the Georgia/Cumberland Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. After roughly 300 newsletters it’s kind of like saying goodbye to an old friend as this medium has become an important part of my ministry. Every week I look at a blank sheet and before long the evidence of the Lord working in our school becomes clear. I hope you have enjoyed it as it has been a vital link between the school and home. Mrs. Barrus has been my safety net as a proof reader so my thanks to her for making me look good.
When we arrived in 2000 things were not going well so I thought I would take this opportunity to reflect on what has made BCA a success over the past 8 years with the hope that you will continue to value our school culture.
- LEADERSHIP - Dr. Robin Steely and Wayne Johnson have served admirably as the board Chairmen during my administration and have been essential pieces to the resurgence educationally, spiritually and financially. Thank them for their volunteer leadership next time you have the opportunity.
- VOLUNTEERS - Larry and Sue Ashdon have done so much to improve the physical condition of our school. The transformation is unbelievable and thanks to them I am proud of the appearance of our school and consider it an honor to show the school off.
- ARTS - The band has brought me great joy during the last 8 years. I will miss their morning music and the way they honor God in their performances and behavior. Protect this asset as they are the best in the entire denomination.
- EDUCATORS - The teaching staff has been a close team and are the reason why I have had success. They continue to produce quality education as evidenced by our test scores and make the lives of our children a spiritual priority. Many mornings have been spent praying for you.
- CHILDREN - The students are BCA’s greatest resource, I know I will miss being a part of their lives. I will miss their hugs, letters, treats, prayers and smiles.
- CLIENTS - Parents have been the ones who have had to “pay the freight” and provide the support to make BCA a vibrant place. Thank you for trusting me with your children.
- OUR HEAVENLY FATHER - I cannot begin to relate the hundreds of times I saw direct intervention from the Lord to solve school issues. Many times I have gone to an empty chapel tearfully and thanked God for the blessings He poured out on BCA. Good things are happening here and the Lord wants to lead us to greater things.
I pray that as we separate at least in memory when someone says “Happy Sabbath” we’ll think of our years together and thank the Lord for the blessing of our friendship, our school, our children and the gift of the Lord’s Sabbath. Happy Sabbath!
Mr. Kossick, Principal
P.S. Next week we will send some basic information for your review. |
