Friday Facts 2008-09-19 FRIDAY FACTS
September 19, 2008
Mr. Velez and I participated in the Lake Union Vision-to-Action Educational Summit this week. These meetings included pastors, administrators, and conference leaders. It was uplifting to watch 26+ people praying for our schools, students, teachers, parents, and administrators. As we talked about the mission of our schools, we also talked about how to move schools closer to God’s ideal for Christian education, based on the book Education. I would encourage you to think about your vision for Christian education, and then all the things you are doing to help promote Christian education in your family, church, and community.
It’s fall time again! The Kindergarteners spent Tuesday morning enjoying the blessings of the fall harvest. The morning was spent at the pumpkin patch. They picked apples, participated in a hayride, and picked out pumpkins. They also ate donuts and cider. A fun time was had by all.
Thursday the third and fourth graders went on a field trip to the Kalamazoo Nature Center. We were blessed with a beautiful day. Students studied about Native Americans and how they used to live. They had an opportunity to play some Native American games, sit in a wigwam, and work in a garden with rustic tools. They also had an opportunity to spend time walking the trails and enjoying the wonderful things God has given us.
The Senior Class is selling BCA Sweatshirts. The shirts come in three styles: Hoodie ($22), Crew ($17), and T. Shirt ($11). There are many different sizes and color options. For more information call Jessica Eberhard or stop by the school office. They will be taking orders until Friday, September 26.
The annual Home and School cookie dough sale is currently under way. There are some wonderful flavors to choose from along with Gourmet Popcorn and Lava-licious Fudge cakes. Order forms, with the money, are due by Friday, September 26. This is a great opportunity to support our wonderful Home and School organization.
Next week we will be halfway through the first quarter. You will be receiving mid-term reports either through your child or by mail. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. It takes parents and the school working together to help the child reach his/her potential.
Please plan to attend the fall Constituency Meeting on Monday, September 22. The meeting will be held in the Battle Creek Academy Chapel @ 7:00 PM.
This weekend I hope you will take the opportunity to reflect on God’s blessings. So often the day-to-day struggles overwhelm us and we miss seeing many of His blessings. Take some extra time, as a family this Sabbath, to think about how God has blessed you.
In His Service,
Charlene Lavallee
