Friday Facts 2008-11-21 FRIDAY FACTS
November 21, 2008
Let me start with a special thanks to two student leaders at our school:
Bradly Bennison, our Campus Ministries President, in conjunction with his team for organizing and successfully completing our Fall Week of Prayer.
Benton Baker, Student Association President, along with fellow SA officers for a job well done in organizing the “informal banquet” Saturday night. The students enjoyed not only a nice spaghetti dinner and games, but also the food fight that followed.
The Lord is in the business of using those who open their hearts to Him. This week, Luke Penrod gave the worship talk at the Lake Union Education Board. Many in attendance agreed that Luke’s message was led by the Spirit. Elder Garry Sudds, Lake Union Conference Director of Education, commented that Luke was a true example of “a mission-driven student” at our school.
Two field trips to note this week: First, Mrs. Anderson’s 5th and 6th graders visited the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. They plan to visit the facility regularly as part of their Bible Labs curriculum and especially to adopt an elderly man or woman from the facility to minister to this year. And second, Mrs. Knutson’s 7th and 8th grade class enjoyed a Social Studies visit to the city of Lansing where they were given a tour through the Capitol building and the Historical Museum.
This weekend’s schedule has the band playing in the annual Battle Creek Holiday Parade. The Tabernacle opens the church for refreshments, so come out and enjoy the fellowship, sights and sounds as we kick off the Holiday Season.
The Freshman class is going to sell subs again on Monday. Based on the day’s sales they will decide whether to keep selling subs for the rest of the semester or to return to selling pancakes and hash browns the following Monday.
We want to again remind parents that Campus Drive is a one-way street for student drop-off and pick-up. Please comply with our driving regulations, as our insurance company requires it. Violators may be forced to travel with Mr. Johnson in the school bus for a two-day non-stop trip - Ha!
Mr. Knowles’ health tip for the week…
How much water should we drink each day? Our bodies are made up of approximately 60% water.
All the organs of the body are dependent on water, for water flushes the toxins out of our vital
organs, transports nutrients to our cells, and keeps the ears, nose, and throat moist. On average,
one should drink approximately eight 8 ounce glasses a day. Another gauge of how much one
should drink is to drink enough water so that you are rarely thirsty and your urine output is nearly
colorless. There are many factors that determine whether or not 8 glasses of water will be enough,
such as how hot it is, how much you are sweating, how much you exercise, if you are sick, or
pregnant. Are you drinking enough water?
Remember that school will be dismissed at 11:30 next Wednesday as we begin the Thanksgiving break.
As a faculty and staff, we wish each of you a wonderful Thanksgiving and start to the Holiday Season.
In His Service,
Eric Velez
High School Principal
