Friday Facts 2009-02-06 Friday Facts
February 6, 2009
It was a real treat to attend Bible Camp with the academy students last week. They are a great group of hard-working cooperative young people. Pastor Nhiwatiwa’s messages were appropriate to the issues that many of our youth face. Bob and Lynn Essex, Marcus and Gwen Baker, John Howes, Brian Porter, and Dorkis Knowles made huge contributions to making the weekend a success. We are happy that Bible Camp is something our students look forward to attending and I sincerely want to thank Bradly Bennison and the Campus Ministries officers for sharing their musical talents. We were thankful that our angels guided us home safely after such a nice weekend of worship and friendship.
Last Friday evening, seven BCA students were inducted into our local chapter of the National Honor Society. Andrea Bishop, Benton Baker, Amber Eastman, Kelly Kim, Charles Rachor, Haley Essex, and Andrew Messecar received this special honor. Students considered for the honor must show achievement in academics, service, leadership, and character. Mrs. Bonnie Velez, the evening’s speaker, challenged the students to devote their lives to Christian service and to not be afraid to dream big.
As many of you already know, Mr. Wayne Johnson had a heart procedure last week. Unfortunately he is not always available to drive our school bus (which gives him an excuse since he has been trying for years not to drive). This has led to some complications when it comes to school field trips. Every year we have parents help us by using their personal vehicles to transport students on field trips. Some questions arose a few weeks ago about what is required of those who use their personal vehicles for field trips. The following is a list of Michigan Conference requirements for parents who help us with transportation:
1. Our school office must have a copy of the volunteer driver’s insurance with a
minimum $100,000 – $300,000-liability insurance.
2. Volunteer drivers must fill out a driving record form (available in the office) before they drive.
3. Vehicles used must be in good condition (i.e., must be a safe car that has been well
maintained).
Ms. Lavallee or yours truly will be happy to answer any questions you may have on the subject.
Next week will be a fairly normal week. However, there are important dates to remember in the weeks ahead…

Sunday, February 15 – S.A. Banquet
Monday, February 16 – Presidents’ Day Holiday; NO SCHOOL
