Friday Facts 2009-03-27 FRIDAY FACTS
March 27, 2009
We serve such an awesome God. He knows what we need, when we need it. He has a plan even before we know the problem. I was reminded by a friend of mine this week how different people look at the same problem. It is interesting how easy it is to look at our own solution and at times miss seeing something much better.
On Monday the Concert Band returned from their trip to Washington, D.C. The students performed 5 concerts while on tour. They also were able to visit various sights in the D.C. area such as the Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, and Jefferson Memorial. They also went to the Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania. During this tour the band received compliments such as “the best music we’ve heard,” “as good as a college band”, and how well disciplined our students were. The band placed a large beautiful wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. A special thanks to those who contributed to the purchase of this wreath. We would also like to say a special thanks to the parents who accompanied this trip. These include Bob and Lynn Essex, Rene and Stephanie Santiago, Marcus and Gwen Baker, Mark and Karen Penrod, Naghielly Agy, Sam Torres, and Kareen Boehmer.
Today grades K-6 made kites. Two kite-making experts from Grand Rapids helped our students understand the history and use of kites, safety for flying kites, and helped them construct their own kite. Students had a great time.
We would like to invite you to the Urbandale Church on Sabbath evening for vespers. Students from grades Kindergarten and Third through Eighth will be presenting the vespers program. Our theme for the evening will be “Destination: Heaven.” The vespers program starts at 7:00 PM. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
There will be no hot lunches next week (March 20-April 3) due to Mission Emphasis Week.
School officially gets out for Spring Break starting on Friday, April 3 @ 11:30 AM. Please help us by being prompt in picking up your student(s) right after school.
There will be no Friday Facts the next two weeks due to Mission Emphasis Week and Spring break week.
Spend some time this weekend enjoying your family and God’s great outdoors. I would encourage you to put some of the daily problems aside this weekend to just be a kid again. Make some time to fly a kite.
