FRIDAY FACTS
April 24, 2009

I trust that all of you have a wonderful Spring Break. Time is going by fast and we are almost at the end of April. This time of the year is always very busy.

This week Battle Creek Academy hosted an Elementary Band Festival. Over 100 students and 20 adult chaperones attended the festival. These students represented five SDA middle school bands. The students arrived at 9:00 AM and presented a concert at 12:00 PM for our elementary students. Everyone had a great time. The musicians presented an excellent concert. A special thanks to Ms. Stark for organizing and hosting this event.

We would like to give a special thanks to the Leila Arboretum for donating a tree to be planted on BCA grounds. As many of you know we have aging trees and several have had to be taken down over the last few years.

As you have driven onto campus many of you may have noticed the blocked off area near the barns. This year a Killdeer decided to lay her eggs in the gravel area of our drive. Mr. Johnson has provided a boundary to help keep this family safe.

We continue to have difficulties with the phone system. We are in the process of finding a solution, but it will take some time to get this fixed. If you should contact the school and leave a message for someone to call you back and have not heard, please contact that person again. The message may have been deleted by the system. We are sorry for this inconvenience, and want to thank you for understanding as we continue to work on this problem.

As many of you have heard, Ken Wilson passed away last week. A memorial service will be held at the Battle Creek Tabernacle on Sabbath afternoon at 3:00 PM. Ken has touched many lives and will be greatly missed. We have a blessed hope that we will see him again when Jesus comes to take us all home.

This weekend is our annual Alumni Weekend. It is always a great opportunity to catch up with people we have not seen for some time. The weekend is full of wonderful speakers and programs. Picnic-n-Pops will be Saturday evening @ 9:00 PM. I would like to say a special thank you to Ms. Meyer and her team for arranging this weekend. It is always a large undertaking, and we look forward to another wonderful experience.

Please also note that on Monday, April 27 there will be NO elementary school (K-8). Teachers will be attending a Regional In-service. High School will remain in session.

Students in grades four through seven will be presenting a music program on Thursday, April 29. The concert will be held at BCA starting at 7:00 PM.

Hope to see many of you at this weekend’s activities.
