Dear Friends,

T
he school continues to experience the presence of God. There is much to praise God for and we encourage your continued prayers and support.

From Grade K & 1: Next week our youngest kids continue to learn that God made them special as they explore plants. Their theme for next week also include the letter “S”, the color “Green”, and the number “2”.

Hot Lunch for Next Week: Due to the economy we must raise lunch prices from $2.00 to $2.50. The schedule is as follows: Monday – Burritos (Freshmen); Tuesday – No Hot Lunch; Wednesday – Pizza (Student Association); Thursday – Quesadillas (Seniors); Friday – Hot Dogs (Grade 8).

HS Chapel Schedule for Next Week: Monday – Juniors; Tuesday – Sophomores; Wednesday – Organizations; Thursday – Witnessing; Friday – Campus Ministry;

Math Minute: Miss Nelsen is using Math Minutes in her 8th Grade, Geometry, Algebra II, and College Prep Mathematics Review class to start each day. These help to increase students’ speed in basic mathematics operations, provide a range of problem-solving questions, and designed to motivate and challenge students as they prepare for other timed-tests. They also allow for an integration of mathematics skills not necessarily explicitly taught in the particular mathematics. Immediate teacher feedback is provided without penalizing a student for forgotten concepts. BCA encourages such a pursuit of excellence.

Success! Our students have participated in the Stuff-A-Bus campaign to collect school materials for less fortunate students. To date, over 2000 stuffed backpacks have been delivered to area schools. We greatly encourage our students to continue to practice serving others as Jesus did.

BCA Handbook: Our newly designed handbooks are available at the office. Along with the usual contents it now has a calendar that can facilitate better communication between the home and school. There is a limit of one per student and each contains a page that must be signed and returned to the school. Remember to grab your copy today.

Did You Get One? Last school year a supplement to the Bacre Vie 2009, our school yearbook, was distributed. If your student had purchased a yearbook but did not bring home the supplement, please contact Mr. Johnson.

A Hero:
We are grateful to God for Kennet Santana, a former student of our elementary school. Now a Hillsdale High School Teacher in San Francisco since 2007, Kennet successfully restrained a 17-year-old boy armed with a chain saw, sword and explosives before anyone was hurt. In this act he put his life on the line for others. Once a member of the Tabernacle SDA Church and Executive Director of the Battle Creek’s Strive Program (2001), Kennet is described as a "genuinely humble individual" and a "remarkable educator, a person who any number of our students look up to and connect with." We are proud of Mr. Santana.
