Dear Friends,

G
od be praised for another successful week of school. We continue to see His blessing and guidance as we seek to do His will. Here is what is happening at BCA.

Homeschoolers Welcomed to LIFT: Michigan Conference’s Lifestyle Improvement For Teens (LIFT) program will be October 4-7. Traditionally, this program has been open to our 8th Graders. We welcome homeschoolers to join us for this spiritual event. The fee of $100 will cover the cost of the program, meals, accommodations, insurance and transportation. Please contact the school as soon as possible if you are interested (269-965-1278).

Gym Uniform Looks Great! BCA students are now wearing a gym uniform and they look quite “spiffy”. We support good deportment and decorum. More than this, our Physical Education Program (PEP) grant has enabled us to deliver a top notch PE program here at BCA. Instruction in principles of health and supporting activities enhance overall wellness has produced exciting data, verifying that our kids are becoming healthier! We thank God for our competent PE teacher, Mr. Knowles, and our very hard working and experienced grant writer, Ms. Meyer.

A Great Communication Tool: Our newly designed handbooks provide a great way for parents and teachers to communicate. With the attached calendar notes can be included that are pertinent to the current date. Students can also write a summary of required homework for that day so that parents always know what is expected of their children. We encourage parents to make full use of this tool for smoother dialogue between the school and the home.

Lake Union Prayer Conference: Due to location issues the Michigan Conference will no longer be hosting this event as advertised. We will host an alternative event that will capture the essence of the prayer conference’s intended purpose.

From the Desk of Grades K & 1: “Three weeks down already! We are so busy having fun that time is flying! Next Friday is yellow day and kids are encouraged to wear yellow, bring yellow things in their lunches, etc. For math Kindergarten is learning about pattern while 1st Graders are doing simple addition in a very complex way, along with a new set of sight words. The theme for next week is Friends are Kind

From the Music Department: For our Saturday Nite at the Movies there promises to be fun for the whole family! Concessions will be available and an entrance fee is required. For more information contact any band booster or Shelly Stark at 269-965-1278 ext 1008. Also, as a matter of health, band parents are reminded to keep instruments (especially mouth pieces) clean. This is critical following an illness.

Hot Lunch for Next Week: Due to the economy we must raise lunch prices from $2.00 to $2.50. The schedule is as follows: Monday – (N0 School); Tuesday – Hay Stacks (Juniors); Wednesday – Pizza (Student Association); Thursday – Quesadillas (Seniors); Friday – Hot Dogs (Grade 8).

HS Chapel Schedule for Next Week: Monday – (N0 School); Tuesday – Freshmen; Wednesday – Organizations; Thursday – Witnessing; Friday – Campus Ministry;

If there is anything we can do to provide a better ministry to our students please let us know. We believe that it is a partnership of the home, school and church that will prove most successful for our mission. Have a great holiday weekend and see you next week.
