Dear Friends,

O
ne of the joys of the education ministry is to see young people grow in knowledge of the Lord. Battle Creek Academy seeks to be faithful in its mandate to produce students who “Learn in order to Serve.” This issue of the Friday Facts highlights this focus on our mission.

Spirituality at BCA
“Do you hear what these children are saying?... And Jesus saith to them, 'Yes, did ye never read, that, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou didst prepare praise?'” (Matthew 21:16) Our Master’s words hold true for even our youngest kids. The Grades K-1 can tell you of how they sang Sweet Jesus over the phone to some elderly people for their outreach. They will tell you that their focus is to share Jesus!
Their older peers, the 2nd & 3rd Graders share that same focus and are not ashamed of the name of Christ. They report, “We have made and decorated our prayer journals. We are learning the importance of talking to our Best Friend, Jesus.” It is indeed heart-warming to know that the mouth of children can confess that God is a real part of their experience.
The older youth in our high school have also demonstrated a desire for an experience with Savior. The 14 students enrolled in Witnessing class were excited to begin their chosen project this year. They decided to design a webpage and produce several web-casts that uplift Christ and draw other teens closer to Him. This project includes forming a musical group (coached by Buddy Houghtaling) that will play Christian music for school chapels services, special programs and the web-casts. Several students will also preach, read scripture, do skits with a message and relate a children’s story. It’s awesome to see youth on fire to spread the Gospel!
Lately, this class went out praying and passing out Passion of Love books door to door. Many in the community met them with much gratitude and thanks, and one resident requested in-home Bible studies. Special thanks go to the parents and church members who are volunteering to go out with us door to door.
In addition, the Bible classes and chapel services have provided a daily structured encounter with spiritual realities. In the words of one of our Bible teachers, “They will learn how to be Godly men and women, God governed and not man governed”. That choice to allow one’s life to be governed by the Creators Will is nothing less than an act of faith and worship, and each teacher uses their subject area and personal testimony to facilitate that worship.
We wish you could be there to observe the art and science of what each education minister does in the classroom. The Friday Facts is designed to give you a glimpse of what we do to the glory of God. We thank you for your prayers and support.

Wedding Bells
Miss Nelsen would like to announce her engagement to Ron Belyea II of Kingston Ontario, Canada. On September 5, 2009 he proposed to her while visiting her mother and brother in Wisconsin. No date has yet been set due to immigration details. We at BCA wish her a big “CONGRATULATIONS!” as she starts her new journey. Our prayers will be with her and Ron. Z

Big Thanks to H&S
The elementary school teachers give a hearty thank you to the Home and School Association for paying the mileage so that Tracy Knutson could professionally test and record the reading level of every child, Grade K-7. This extensive and beneficial work was conducted over a 5-day period and we are grateful for the support given.
